 Covide 19: Thomas, Uber Cup moved to next year

New Delhi, Sep 19 (Udrakhabar): The Thomas and Uber Cups to be held in Denmark have been moved to next year.  The Badminton Wallpapers Federation (BWF) made the announcement on Tuesday.  The BWF was forced to make the decision after several leading teams dropped out of the tournament due to the Covida-19 epidemic.

 The tournament was scheduled to take place from October 3 to 11.  India also announced its men's and women's teams for the prestigious tournament.  However, Thailand, Australia, the Chinese Taipei, Algeria, Indonesia and South Korea have dropped out of the tournament for Covide 19.  As a result, the BWF convened a virtual council meeting on Sunday.  It was decided to move the tournament.

 The BWF has decided to include Singapore and Hong Kong in the tournament as replacement teams.  The two countries, however, rejected the invitation.  Japan and China were also considering withdrawing.  September 18 was the last date for the decision to participate.  Saina Nehwal, P.V.  Star players like Sindhu have questioned the timing of the tournament.  The two players would have led India in the Uber Cup.  Similarly, in the Thomas Cup, India, led by Kidambi Srikkanth, would have come down to the field.
