Bhubaneswar: Light to moderate pressure is expected in the northeastern Bay of Bengal and its adjoining areas by the next 20 days.  As a result, heavy to very heavy rains are expected from the 20th to the 23rd of next month, according to a special bulletin issued by the Indian Meteorological Department.  According to the IMD bulletin, the epicenter was reported below the Pacific Ocean floor, however; no tsunami alert was issued.  The meteorological department has advised fishermen at sea to return before the 20th as the sea is likely to be very turbulent at this time.

 According to the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Department, thunderstorms are expected in Nabarangpur, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Sambalpur, Devgarh, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj districts on the 16th before the cyclone.  Thunderstorms are expected in 15 districts of the state on the 16th.  However, the impact of the rains will increase from 20, the source said.  The Special Relief Commission (SRC) has instructed district governors to be vigilant in the face of possible rains.
