The 36-hour quarantine is for England and Australia players
The demands of England and Australia cricketers have been heeded. After arriving in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from the United Kingdom (UK) to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL), they will have to stay in quarantine for just 36 hours instead of 6 days as per the previous rules. Twenty-one players from Australia and England have come face to face with the UAE to play in the IPL after playing the White Ball series in the UK. According to reports, a senior Australian player wrote a letter to Sourav Ganguly, President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). "If the quarantine period is extended to 3 days instead of 6 days, they will be able to play from the start of the tournament," he said. The players argued that they had been living in a bio-bubble first in Australia and then in the UK. Since they have not been in contact for a long time, they should be allowed to enter from one bio-bubble to another. The issue has been resolved after talks with local authorities in the UAE. By reducing the quarantine period to 36 hours, teams like Chennai Super Kings (Jose Hazlewood and Tom Kuran), Rajasthan Royals (Steve Smith, Jose Butler, Joffe Archer) will get all their games from their first game. Similarly, Kings XI Punjab will get Glenn Maxwell and Delhi Capitals Alex Carr in its roster, an official of the franchise said.
