The Agriculture Bill is presented in the Rajya Sabha: The BJP is hoping for a smaller party for approval
The agriculture bill was introduced in the state assembly on Sunday, the ninth day of the monsoon session. Presenting it, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said the bill would be able to bring a lot of change to the lives of farmers. Farmers can have the freedom to sell their produce anywhere in the country. "It has nothing to do with the minimum support price," Tomar said. Opposing this, the CPI (M) ’s MPP K.K. Ragesh said the government has come up with a package for the corporate sector through this. "It simply came to our notice then. Congress MP Pratap Singh Bajwa said the bill would attack the souls of farmers. It's like signing a consent decree. On the bill, BJP MP Bhupendra Yadav opposed the Congress, saying it had done nothing for the country's farmers in the last 70 years. The farmers have set up a vote bank for the Congress. Now the Congress continues to oppose the BJP government. Trinamool Congress MPs Derek and Bayan said the BJP government had only kept its promises but could not keep them. Notably, the agriculture bill has already been approved in the Lok Sabha. However, the BJP's position in the Rajya Sabha remains weak. The Rajya Sabha now has 245 seats, of which two are vacant. As a result, the number of members is 243. The agriculture bill needs to have the support of 122 members to get it approved. The BJP now has 86 members in the Rajya Sabha. The BJP expects to get 100 votes against the bill. The BJP, on the other hand, is relying on small parties to support the necessary members. Meanwhile, the BJP has also issued a whip. Some members will abstain from voting as well as absenteeism. As a result, the government is expected to have the support of about 115 members. Opposition parties have stated they will not run in the by-elections.
