Bhubaneswar, Sep:20 (Udrakhabar) - A prominent doctor has been accused of cheating online by drinking alcohol. Cyber fraud has looted Rs 1.5 lakh from two accounts. It is learned that the police have registered a case and are investigating after the doctor lodged a complaint with the Khandagiri police station.
According to sources, the doctor is working at a private hospital in Khandagiri police station area and is staying on the campus. He was looking for a shop on Google to order liquor online. At this point, he got a fake liquor store number left by cyber fraudsters on the internet and called. The person who received the call received an order from him and asked him to pay Rs 1480 through Google Pay. He made the payment but did not reach the liquor house within the stipulated time. The doctor called the number and asked if the order had been canceled. So he sent some QR code to the doctor’s mobile phone with some advice to get the money back. He then scanned it and deducted Rs 10,000 from his account. Seeing this, the doctor called the number again and informed him that the fraudster had given another bank account number and the money would be returned. More than one and a half lakh rupees were looted from the accounts of doctors and his friends. Eventually finding no way out, he went to the door of the police station.
