According to the block agriculture department, 50 per cent of the paddy fields in 11 panchayats have been affected by the ongoing floods in the Tihidi block.  Due to the recent light rains, floodwaters inundated villages in various lower panchayats in the Tihidi block, leaving paddy fields in a state of disrepair.  Due to the full moon, the floodwaters had receded for about a week.  On the other hand, as there was no other option for drainage, the open lands were flooded and the paddy crop was destroyed.  This year, paddy has been cultivated in a total of 20,623 hectares of land in 31 panchayats of the block, while 5,933 hectares of paddy has been cultivated in Bilna, Baro, Bodak, Barsar, Gobindpur, Kapada, Shyamsunderpur, Sindol, Kohl, Daulatpur and Harisingpur panchayats.  Investigated.  In the other 20 panchayats, less than 50 per cent of the damage was reported in paddy cultivation.  It is to be noted here that farmers have been cultivating paddy this year due to adverse weather with Karona cut.  Similarly, various banks, co-operative societies and borrowers borrowed money and invested in agriculture.  But the catastrophic flood disaster has prevented it.  As a result, their annual resources have been wasted.  Farmers are struggling to make ends meet as their annual crops are uprooted.  Farmers have demanded that the government investigate the matter and provide them with appropriate compensation.
