The Khelo India State Center of Excellence will be set up in six other states
New Delhi, Sep 19 (Udrakhabar): The Union Ministry of Sports has decided to set up the Khelo India Center of Excellence (KISCE) in four other states to develop young sports talent. Earlier, the Kalinga Stadium in Odisha was included.
It now includes Assam, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Damon and Dew, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya and Sikkim. Earlier, the ministry had announced the establishment of KISCE in Karnataka, Odisha, Kerala, Telangana, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland. The existing centers of Khelo India are said to be reorganized and converted into KISCE. Various centers were shortlisted for this, taking into account the training facilities and infrastructure facilities and the record of creating pre-championship players. The centers will be equipped with sports equipment, experienced coaches and high performance managers, with a maximum of 3 Olympic sports per center, the ministry said.
