Modi shakes hands with the poor: Now the land has been turned over

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched the ‘Swamitva’ scheme to draw the hand of the rural poor.  The Prime Minister launched it through video conferencing.  Under the scheme, the poor have become landowners.  They have been allotted digital land titles.  The poor can borrow by showing so much land.  Under the scheme, one million people have been able to download their landlords through the SMS link sent to their mobile phones.  It is expected to benefit 763 villages in 6 states.  The scheme covers 346 villages in Uttar Pradesh.  Similarly, 221 villages in Haryana, 100 in Maharashtra, 44 in Madhya Pradesh, 50 in Uttarakhand and 2 in Karnataka are also covered under the scheme.  Apart from Maharashtra, rural poor in other states are said to be able to get land titles in one day.  In a month, rural people in Maharashtra will also be able to avail the facility.
