Bihar Assembly elections: Congress issues manifesto, promising to waive debts to farmers
The Congress has issued a manifesto ahead of the Bihar assembly elections. The declaration promises to waive farmers' debts, halve electricity bills and bring justice to girls. It also calls for a monthly stipend of Rs 1,500 for the unemployed and free education for girls from kg to PG. It promises to make the Maithili language compulsory in school teaching, to provide scooters to students who score 90 per cent in the twelfth grade, to fill 242,000 teaching posts in 18 months and to enact laws to protect media representatives. The change in power is essential for the development of the state, the declaration said. The declaration, issued on Wednesday, has been renamed. It was issued in the presence of Congress state president Shakti Singh Gohil, spokesperson Randeep Surejwala, Raj Babur and other senior members of the party.
