 Offensive remarks against Kangana: Jharsuguda Bar Association suspends lawyer from union

Jharsuguda's Mehndi Reza, a lawyer from Jharsuguda, has been harassed by Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut on Facebook.  The district attorney's office has issued a show cause notice to cancel the lawyer's membership.  The Jharsuguda Bar Association has decided to meet with the Jharsuguda District Magistrate and SP to demand the immediate arrest of the lawyer concerned if he does not get a satisfactory answer within 17 days.

 Mehndi Reza, a lawyer at Jharsuguda Bar, made an offensive comment on Facebook in the name of Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut.  This has been sharply criticized on various social media.  The Jharsuguda Hanuman Temple Service Committee had filed a case against Mehendi Reza at the Jharsuguda police station on the 15th.  "Even though Mehndi Reza, a resident of Jharsuguda Mangalbazar, was a lawyer by profession, it is indecent and inhumane and unforgivable to make objectionable remarks about a woman," the affidavit said.

Actress Kangana uploaded some photos of herself on Facebook on the occasion of Navratri.  Attorney Mehndi Reza made the objection.  Jharsuguda police have said that her remarks have hurt the self-esteem of the actress and hurt the Hindu public opinion.  It is therefore demanded that legal action be taken against Mehndi Reza.

 Based on this, a case has been filed against King Mehndi under Section 294 and Section 67 of the IT Act.  Mehndi's account was later blocked after the controversy escalated.  "Besides, his Facebook account has been hacked and someone is abusing it," he said.  But no one has complained about the account being hacked.  So it is clear that he himself made this comment.  The Jharsuguda Bar Association has taken the case seriously.  The district BJP has also been sharply critical.

 P Ram Mohan Rao, internal president of the District Bar Association, said strict action had been taken against Mehndi Reza at an important meeting of the District Bar Association today.  Senior BJP leader Dinesh Jain has demanded the immediate arrest of Mehndi Reza as the brotherhood is being ruined in the city for such posts on social media.
