5 crore smartphones sold in India in July-September

India's smartphone market has seen a resurgence since the opening of the Lockdown.  Sales of smartphones in the third quarter of the current year (July to September) were the highest in India at an all-time high of Rs 5 crore.  During this period, all Chinese companies accounted for 76 percent of the total market share.

According to data collection company Canalis, sales of the top five mobile phone companies, Xiaomi, Samsung, Vivo, Realme and Oppo, have increased over the same period last year.  In the third quarter of 2020, sales of smartphones in the country increased by 8 percent to 5 crore units, according to a statement from Canalis4.  At the same time last year, it was 4.62 crore units.  This is the all-time high of smartphone sales in the country in a three-month quarter.  Xiaomi tops the list with 26.1 percent of the market.  Xiaomi sold 1.31 crore phones during the period.  Samsung, at the top of the list, sold 1.02 crore phones, accounting for 20.4 percent of the market.  Vivo, Realmi and Oppo have since sold Rs 88 lakh, Rs 87 lakh and Rs 61 lakh respectively.  However, the border dispute between India and China is at an all-time high, with no effect on the country's public purchases of Chinese mobile phones.
